From Northern Bucharest, for Business Travelers

Where to Stay Near Aurel Vlaicu Metro Station — Guide for Business Travelers and Tourists in Bucharest

Aurel Vlaicu metro station (M2 line) is one of the most practical transit points in northern Bucharest. If you’re flying into Otopeni, attending a trade fair at Romexpo, or working in Pipera or Floreasca — this is where you’ll likely pass through. Crystal Palace Hotel is 800 meters from the station, about a 10-minute walk.

Why Aurel Vlaicu Metro Matters

Most visitors focus on getting to the city center and overlook the north entirely. That’s a mistake if your meetings, events, or office visits are in Sector 1 — the business district that stretches from Floreasca to Pipera.

The M2 line runs north to south. It connects Henri Coandă Otopeni Airport (via the 783 express bus to Băneasa, then the metro) through Piața Victoriei and Piața Universității, all the way south to Berceni. Aurel Vlaicu sits in the northern stretch — close to Promenada Mall, World Trade Center Bucharest, and the main corporate campuses in the area.

Train frequency during peak hours: 4 to 6 minutes. Off-peak: 8 to 10 minutes. The system is reliable and cheap — a single trip costs 3 RON, and a 10-trip card is worth it if you’re staying a few days.

These are walking distances or short taxi rides. The area has a different character from the old center — less tourist infrastructure, more practical for anyone here on business.

The hotel is 650 meters from Promenada Mall and around 10 km from Otopeni Airport. It scores around 9/10 on Booking.com — consistent, not exceptional, which is roughly what you’d expect from a well-run independent in this part of the city.

It’s not a boutique design hotel. It’s not trying to be. The positioning is practical: reliable service, free parking, decent food, and meeting rooms — without Marriott pricing. For a multi-day business stay in northern Bucharest, that combination is harder to find than it sounds.

Crystal Palace Hotel is approximately 800 meters from Aurel Vlaicu metro station — about a 10-minute walk. The station is on the M2 line (marked in yellow on Bucharest metro maps).

Take the 783 express bus from Otopeni to Băneasa metro station, then board the M2 southbound. Aurel Vlaicu is two stops away. The total trip takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on bus frequency and traffic.

Aurel Vlaicu is on the M2 line (yellow line), which runs through the northern business districts — Pipera, Băneasa — through Piața Victoriei and Piața Universității, continuing south to Berceni.

To Piața Universității: roughly 12 minutes by metro. To Piața Victoriei: about 6 minutes. Both are direct — no line changes required.

Crystal Palace Hotel offers free parking and is 800 meters from the station. This matters if you're arriving by car — parking in central Bucharest is expensive and often scarce.

By metro, you can reach the Old Town in about 20 minutes. The station is also close to Herăstrău Park, the Floreasca neighborhood, and the two main malls in the north — Promenada Mall (1 km) and Băneasa Shopping City (3 km).
