From Northern Bucharest, for Business Travelers

Otopeni Airport to Crystal Palace Hotel — Transfer Guide

Crystal Palace Hotel is located 10 km from Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), commonly known as Otopeni. By car or taxi, the Otopeni airport transfer takes 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic, directly on DN1 and Aurel Vlaicu Boulevard.

This guide covers every way to reach our 4-star hotel from OTP — taxi, ride-hailing apps, the Express Bus 100 (formerly 783), the CFR airport train, and private transfer options — with realistic time and cost ranges for 2026.

Distance and Travel Time at a Glance

Bus 100 + short taxi~12 km35–55 min
Train to Gara de Nord + M1 + M255–75 min

The hotel sits in Sector 1, North Bucharest, close to Aurel Vlaicu metro station (M2 line), Promenada Mall and the Floreasca–Pipera business district.

Option 1 — Taxi from OTP (fastest and simplest)

The fastest way from Otopeni airport to North Bucharest is an official airport taxi. Order one from the self-service touch-screen kiosks in the Arrivals terminal — never accept drivers who approach you inside or outside the building.

Realistic fare range from OTP to our area: 60–100 RON (approximately 12–20 EUR), depending on time of day and traffic.

Ask for Str. Căpitan Aviator Alexandru Șerbănescu 18–20, Sector 1 or simply “Crystal Palace Hotel, near Aurel Vlaicu metro.” The route follows DN1 south toward Piața Presei Libere and exits at Aviatorilor.

Option 2 — Uber, Bolt or FreeNow

Ride-hailing works well at OTP. Uber and Bolt are the most used; FreeNow is a third option. The pick-up point is on the first-floor parking area, outside the Arrivals terminal — not directly at the exit.

Fares from OTP airport to the hotel typically range 40–90 RON, sometimes higher during airport surge pricing (early mornings, late evenings, rainy days).

Option 3 — Express Bus 100 (formerly 783)

The Express Bus 100, operated by STB, replaced the old line 783 in December 2023. It runs 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes overnight.

Route highlights from the airport:

  • Aeroport Henri Coandă → Primăria Otopeni → Aeroport Băneasa → Piața Presei → Piața Victoriei → Piața Unirii

For North Bucharest travelers, Piața Presei Libere is the relevant stop — it is the closest point on the route to our area, roughly 2.5 km from the hotel. From there, a short taxi or ride-hailing trip reaches Aurel Vlaicu in a few minutes.

A single ticket costs 3 RON and is valid for 90 minutes on any STB transport. You can pay directly with a contactless bank card at the validator on board, or buy a travel card from the kiosk next to the bus stop.

Option 4 — Train from the airport to Gara de Nord

The CFR Călători airport train is the most predictable option when Bucharest traffic is heavy. The station is a short walk from the Arrivals terminal, clearly signposted.

  • Frequency: every 40 minutes, 24/7
  • Duration: 20–25 minutes to Gara de Nord
  • Ticket: around 8 RON

From Gara de Nord, take Metro M1 to Piața Victoriei, change to Metro M2 toward Pipera, and get off at Aurel Vlaicu station. From there, the hotel is a short walk on Aurel Vlaicu Boulevard.

Total time including transfers: 55–75 minutes. Cheap, but with two changes and luggage, most business travelers still prefer a taxi.

Option 5 — Bus 442 (useful if you’re heading to Romexpo first)

Bus 442 also serves Henri Coandă airport and runs to Piața Presei Libere, close to the Romexpo exhibition center. If your schedule includes a Romexpo event before check-in, bus 442 is a direct connection worth knowing.

Option 6 — Pre-booked private transfer

Pre-booked private transfers cost more (typically 100–180 RON) but include flight tracking, a driver waiting in Arrivals with a name sign, and fixed pricing regardless of traffic. Good fit for corporate delegations and late-night arrivals.

Ask at reservation@cphotel.ro if the hotel can arrange a transfer for your check-in.

How to Reach Aurel Vlaicu Metro from OTP

Aurel Vlaicu metro station (M2 line) is the nearest public transport hub to the hotel — approximately a 5-minute walk.

  • Direct taxi or ride-hailing: 15–20 min, 60–100 RON
  • Train + M1 + M2: 55–75 min, under 20 RON

Aurel Vlaicu is not directly served by bus 100 — don’t plan to ride the 100 all the way. Get off at Piața Presei and continue by taxi, or use the train route.
